Organically Grown Montana Sweetgrass — Loose, Fragrant, and Ready to Braid

This loose sweetgrass bundle is carefully harvested, dried, and packed from our recent Montana-grown harvest. It is perfect for braiding your own sweetgrass, burning as incense, using in ceremony, or adding to natural crafts and herbal projects.

Each bundle weighs approximately 1.25 oz and typically makes about 3–4 traditional 21-strand sweetgrass braids, depending on strand thickness and braid size.

Our sweetgrass is cultivated in Montana, not pulled from fragile wild stands. By growing our own, we can harvest responsibly by cutting only the blades while leaving the roots alive to regrow year after year. The result is healthy, fragrant sweetgrass with a naturally sweet aroma often described as honey, vanilla, fresh hay, and warm summer grass.

How to Make a Sweetgrass Braid

1. Lightly mist the sweetgrass with water using a spray bottle.

2. Let it sit for a few minutes until the strands become flexible.

3. Secure the thick end with a clamp, vise, or heavy object.

4. Separate the sweetgrass into three even sections.

5. Begin braiding carefully, keeping the strands even and gently snug as you work.

Braiding Tips

Rehydrate lightly as needed while braiding to keep the sweetgrass pliable. Avoid soaking the bundle, as too much water can make the grass harder to handle.

Store unused sweetgrass in a sealed bag or container to help preserve its fragrance.
